If you listen to the experts then you probably know that it depends on who those experts represent as to whom they think is to blame for the real estate crisis in the United States. Some blame the lenders and others blame the borrowers and still others blame the government.
I had the chance to sit down with a mortgage broker that blamed society. He had some interesting points the he uses to help guide his customers toward sound financial decisions. I liked the first point the best.
Most people today are caught in a debt mentality. Your purchase strength is only as good as your credit – forget what you have in the bank. You don’t pay for things now – you borrow so that you can get them now and pay later.
This expert felt that the only way to escape the crisis and to avoid problems in the future was to start educating people on DEBT. He also suggested that this “must have it now” generations must learn patience. By putting off purchases for just a few years (or sometimes even just a few days or weeks), most borrowers can find better deals or save thousands of dollars.
There is some truth in all the opinions about the current financial crisis. Everyone bears some of the blame. Now we all need to take some of the responsibility towards digging our way out of the problem.
