Yesterday, for a half hour Starbucks handed out free coffee. The event was an attempt to get the word out about the new Pike Place Roast Starbucks is offering. While my husband was snagging his freebie, he picked up this card and I think it’s almost better than cash. With this little card I now have the ability to get a free tall cup of Pike Place Roast every Wednesday through May 28. I got my first free cup today and it was pretty good. For any other coffee addicts out there that may not be holding one of these cards, here are some other ways you can save money on your coffee fix.
- Instead of an iced latte, try an iced coffee. My husband often orders a venti iced coffee with half and half and classic syrup. It’s about $1 cheaper than a grande flavored latte and it tastes great.
- Skip the syrup. Syrup adds about $.30 to the price.
- Downsize. Instead of a venti try a tall.
- Are there two of you ordering the same drink? A friend of mine says she’ll ask for a venti in two cups. It equals out to about two tall drinks and costs quite a bit less.
- Pay with a Starbucks gift card. Not only will this help you monitor your spending, but Starbucks now offers perks to those paying with cards. According to their website, you can get syrup and milk options for free, brewed coffee refills at no charge and a complimentary tall drink when you buy a bag of whole beans.
- Finally, head over to the competition on May 15. From 10am until 10pm Dunkin’ Donuts is giving away free small iced coffees.
